A friend recently asked me if I was in opposition to the authorities. The question made me think, and soon the answer I found surprised my interlocutor and slightly myself. I am not in opposition to the authorities - I am in opposition to my people. I see not the authorities as the main enemy, but our own Ukrainian people. I am in uncompromising opposition to them. I consider them to be the cause of all troubles and I believe it is necessary to urgently purge them.
In my deep conviction, the main political conflict in Ukraine is not the conflict between the authorities and the opposition, but the conflict between the smart and the foolish. It is clear that the number of the latter is rapidly increasing.
Both in power and in opposition, there have been well-off and intelligent people for many years, successfully exploiting the foolish and obedient people. The problem is not with them. They are not the root of evil, they are just a consequence.
Evil is gullibility, greed, political illiteracy, lack of education, thievery, servility, and irresponsibility of citizens. Such a people rightfully have the exact authorities and opposition that they have. Ukrainian society does not need parliamentary opposition to the authorities, but a nationwide opposition to the foolish.
Here are four categories of “fools” that, in my opinion, are the most dangerous and need to be fought against first, at all levels and at any opportunity:
Buckwheat-eaters. This is what they call those who vote in elections, figuratively speaking, for a package of buckwheat. At first glance, these people can be understood; they are far from politics, rightly do not believe that one candidate-criminal is better than another candidate-cop, have long been disillusioned with any authority, and take money. Their momentarily justified but strategically detrimental behavior turns the entire population into a easily manageable herd, which various Korban’s and Philatov’s successfully exploit. By selling their voting rights, “buckwheat-eaters” turn democracy into buckwheatcracy, and the power of the people into the power of the people with stolen money. How to defeat the buckwheat-eaters? It is not the oligarchs in parliament, who are unreachable, but the people living next to us, who drive us into slavery and poverty with their passivity, greed, and foolishness. To fight them, there is no need to set tires on fire and smash tents on Maidan. It is enough to simply explain the seriousness and danger of their behavior.
Patriots. Neither common sense, nor expediency, nor logic, nor sober reasoning, nor plans, nor the arguments of reason can extinguish the flames of righteous patriotic xenophobia. Patriots seek enemies, not reasons. Patriots dream of victory “over,” not “for.” Patriots need a reason to hate, not reasons to love. As Oscar Wilde said, “patriotism is the virtue of the vicious.” Patriots cover up vices with bright flags, emblems, anthems, and illustrated books about the rich history of “their” people. Patriotism does not know how to think, it knows how to act. Act under the guidance of those who think. It is necessary to fight patriotism at all levels, from the everyday and above. Although, there is almost no higher level for it. It thrives at the bottom, where long reflections are not honored, and the flags are brighter.
Activists. At the beginning of the last century, in the Soviet labor camps of the GULAG system, there was a category of prisoners who collaborated with the administration. They were called “activists.” They helped the administration maintain order and discipline among the prisoners. Ukraine in its current form, with its impoverished people practically living in slavery, is not much different from a Stalinist concentration camp. Various kinds of activists, calling for cleanliness in courtyards and roadside, collecting funds to help children, environmentalists, and fighters for European values, play into the hands of the ruling class of corrupt officials, distracting the population from the real problem. It is not sick children that need saving, but officials from the healthcare system need to be put in prison. It is not about raising funds for fighting leukemia, but about investigating the multimillion-dollar embezzlement from the country’s budget. You cannot cure a cancerous tumor with green paint, and that is exactly the kind of treatment all kinds of “activists” offer. I urge you to take a close look at the fighters for “good at any cost” - they are traitors.
Recently, I was asked what exactly we, specifically you and I, can do to change the situation in our impoverished and destroyed Ukraine? I think we need to start by fighting these four categories of our enemies. Fighting at our accessible level, in everyday communication, in social networks, in offices and at home.
Our national troubles start with these people.
